In fact, much about this novel feels like a classic historical romance: a bluestocking wallflower coming into her own, a dashing Heyerian Mark II heroine coming into town and being undone by our wallflower, upsetting their worlds, and setting them off on a years-long journey to find themselves and love. The Last Lavender Sister is a deeply ambitious romance novel, harkening back to the sweeping romantic sagas of old while being thoroughly modern in tone and voice. ![]()
